Heros

Here are a few people that inspire me.

Jesus Christ

This person is my guide. It is from Jesus' teaching that I learned love and forgiveness. The values of his ministry are deeply needed in our interpersonal relationships today.

Liz Theophille

Liz has one of the greatest approaches to leadership that I'm aware of.

Chales Petzold

One of the earliest influencers I've had in computer science. I used to read Patzold's work in Dr Dobb's journal and other sources long before I knew how to write code. He has a great clarity of thought that comes through in his works, and his understanding of the subject matter is peerless, in my opinion.

Jordan Peterson

In times of great change, the most important things we can do are also the most mundane things life puts in front of us.

A clinical phycologist, Jordan Peterson has a great message for the personal complexities we face in our modern culture.

Edgar F Codd

Father of the relational database architecture. It was a different world when Codd introduced the relational database design. Storage was extremely expensive, and compute even more so. His work enabled the revolution of the personal computer we know today.  he is a hero for his ability to understand the long term impacts of fundamental design principles.

Roy Feilding

Feilding's work on Representual State Transfer ("REST") protocol is one of the most important works in the field of data interchange today.

He's my hero for the thought leadership he put into this thesis, and his ability to grasp solutions to the problems of data interchange that were evident in those times. Many of the concepts he's touched on in his work remain exceptional opportunities moving forward.

Here's Feilding's paper

Elon Musk

Elon is my hero for turning his views into action. He created Tesla and Solar City because he believes we need to live sustainable lifestyles. SpaceX is all about the survivability of the human race.

His position on the people he hires is also very refreshing and relevant to our culture moving forward. I could go on... but finally, his openness to adapt and learn from mistakes makes him one of the greatest leaders of our times.

Joshua Wyeth

A Son of the American Revolution and relative, 15 year-old Joshua Wyeth participated in the Boston Tea Party, and is said to have coined the phrase. After serving in the continental army, Joshua settled his family in the Ohio frontier. His decedents (including myself) still live in the area today.

He makes my hero list for the bravery he displayed at such a young age, his fortitude to establish a homestead in what was at the time a very dangerous area, and finally his original inclusiveness to accept our Cherokee heritage into the family.

I firmly believe that there is not one person alive today that I couldn't learn something from.
